Aries Full Moon Goals: Time to reflect/revise, & plan new goals.

So the moon will be entering its full moon stage either tonight or tomorrow night (depending on where you are in the world). This will mark the first of two full moons for the month of October (the second one will actually occur on Halloween this year). So in addition to being the first of two full moons for the month—it also marks the beginning of the last quarter of 2020 as well. Fingers crossed, that the last quarter goes more smoothly than the first three quarters have gone.

So the moon will be moving through the Aries constellation—which means that astrologically we’re ‘starting a new year’ since Aries is the start of the Zodiac calendar. It is the time to reassess, redesign, toss, and make new goals if one is inclined.

So what are some of the questions we can reflect on during this time?

            Have I been hotheaded, selfish, or argumentative this month?

            Have I been going too fast or been impulsive this month?

            Have I been brash, blunt, or too competitive?

            Have I ignored other people’s finer sensibilities?

            Have I had enough fun?

So before answering the questions, I do need to point out that it is the beginning of the month, so I actually going to answer these questions based on 1) how I want to behave during the coming month, but also 2) how I behaved during the past couple of weeks. So as usually I’m going to number the questions 1 to 5 as I answer them.

  1. While I haven’t been selfish (at least I don’t think I’ve been acting selfishly) over the past month, nor do I plan on acting selfishly during the coming weeks—unless you consider setting aside time for self-care (for me that is taking bubble baths, and having at least forty-five minutes of winding down at night before bed)—then I will selfishly guard those times. I’m trying to control my temper—I will admit to getting into an argument with people last month. We’re still in the middle of a pandemic, and people are getting tired of the fact that nothing is ‘normal’. They want their kids to be in school full time face-to-face. While I can agree that face-to-face teaching is the norm, and what in theory is ‘best’—if you can’t guarantee small class room sizes, social distancing desks, and that your kids are going to wear the masks all day—it isn’t worth the risk. This isn’t a novel flu or cold that is going around—it is something five (or more) times deadly, and even if it doesn’t kill you it will leave you with health problems for the rest of your life. So yes, this is the one thing that I will argue with people about.
  2. In terms of being impulsive—I’m an impulsive book buyer (and that is something that I’m trying to curb. I know that I have hundreds of books on my e-reader that I haven’t read and I should make a dent in that ‘pile’ before buying more). In terms of going too fast—nope, people will probably accuse me of going way too damn slow—but guess what the tortoise won that race. Everyone goes through life at his or her own pace, and I’m finally at peace that my pace isn’t everyone else’s pace.
  3. Well, this depends on the topic—yes, I’ve been blunt in terms of the novel coronavirus. There are things that everyone should be doing (but most people aren’t doing them), that I have kept harping on (wearing masks, social distancing, and staying home whenever possible). But I don’t think that I’ve been brash or too competitive—again I’m slowing down to my pace, I’ve decided that trying to keep pace with everyone else was too damn tiring and if I’m going to make changes it has to be at a pace I’m comfortable with—and not worry if others feel the same.
  4. I don’t think I’ve been ignoring people’s finer sensibilities—it would actually be nice to see if their finer sensibilities would come out during this time. I’m actually trying to ignore their more obnoxious sensibilities, so that I don’t have to downsize my friend list too much over the coming months.
  5. What is this fun, you speak of? We’re going into month seven of the pandemic; the US has over 7.4 million cases, over 200K deaths, and idiots currently in charge. I am trying to figure out ways to add ‘enjoyment’ to my day, but at the same time realize that the ‘old normal’ is gone, and a ‘new normal’ is still at least fourteen to sixteen months off.

I’ve realized that I’m still happy being a wallflower—someone who is happier observing than participating, but that doesn’t help with networking and job searching. True networking is more virtual these days (thanks pandemic), and so are most job interviews—but I still have to develop the enthusiasm for talking with people (and not worry constantly that they’re judging me)—so here is still a small goal to be working on.

Aries is also moving through my sixth house (or my daily work and health zone). This house is where we can sit and reflect on who we are (both in terms of professional/work and personal/health) and decide to work on those aspects that we don’t like.

I had decided a couple of months ago that I was going to push play daily (and I’ve only missed one day so far), and complete four Beachbody programs before the end of the year. I completed morning meltdown-100 mid-September, and am currently going through a combo calendar of yoga booty ballet and LIIFT4. This combo calendar will take me to mid-November, when I will then tackle a new program (which will take me to Christmas). Then I will finish out the year/start the New Year with a different short program.

I’m not really close to where I was hoping to be in terms of my reboot break and transitioning into industry—in part due to the pandemic, but also in part to still not being absolutely sure which direction to go (I do have several ideas that are swirling that I need to get down on paper over the next few days). I have also realized aspects of the past jobs that I’ve liked and that I’ve absolutely detested—those too are going to be written down. The plan is to have an idea of direction(s) that I can go in that play to my strengths, helps me work on some ‘weaknesses’, but avoids most (if not all) the things I learned to detest over the years.

So what are my goals for the Aries full moon?

            Review, edit, and reassemble my 150+ goals to accomplish in 2002 days. I know that there are some things that I can probably remove from the list—I won’t be changing the time period, I will just be changing out goals—seeing what has been accomplished, what needs to go, and possibly what can be added.

            Figure out what other ‘notes’ to post around the computer to help in time management. I’ve currently been telling myself when I can check my email and get on social media—it is slowly helping in managing my time.

            Continue with personal/professional development. This will include working through e-courses, reading, and journaling (especially taking prompts from different books and/or e-courses).

            Draft a ‘master plan’ that includes the blog, the transition (remote, freelance, contract), personal/professional development, hobbies, and life in general.

While sticking to the following reminders: Progress over Perfection; You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one; and not caring what other people think is the best choice you will ever make.

Aries Full Moon Goals: A few days late

So the moon is (or actually has) entered it’s latest full moon stage, and has moved through the Aries constellation. I’m going to be a day (or two, maybe three) late in posting, but that seems to be on par the past couple of weeks in my posts. By the time I post this, October will be halfway over, and that means there is only two and half months left in 2019. Somehow, time speeds by when one wants it to go slow, and crawls when we want it to speed past. I’ve realized that one thing I need to focus on during these last few weeks of 2019 and going into 2020—time management, and productivity.

So Aries is actually the start of the Zodiac calendar—which means astrologically speaking—it’s starting a new year, so goals can be reassessed, redesigned, tossed, and new ones made if one wants to.

So during the full moon, there are a series of questions one can ask themselves regarding the full moon in different constellations. So in regards to the full moon in Aries, one can ask themselves the following questions:

Have I been hotheaded, selfish, or argumentative this month?

Have I been going to fast or been impulsive this month?

Have I been brash, blunt, or too competitive?

Have I ignored other people’s finer sensibilities?

Have I had enough fun?

So if I were to number the previous questions 1-5, I think my answers would be as following:

  1. I don’t think that I’ve been hotheaded, selfish, or argumentative this month as all—though I’m sure that there are some people who will disagree with me on the selfish part (since I turned in my letter of resignation for my current position [and who knows when it will be filled]). I’m actually trying to put myself first at times (especially in terms of my mental health). I usually try to avoid being argumentative at work (it doesn’t seem to do any good, other than make a situation worse).
  2. No I haven’t been going to fast or being impulsive this month either—if nothing else, my problem is that I’m usually going in the opposite mode—to slow and being overly cautious. I’ve realized that I’ve actually worked myself into a stage/period of “motion paralysis”, and this is something that I’m actually going to be working on moving/getting out of over the next few months (especially once my reboot break starts).
  3. Again, no I don’t think I’ve been brash, blunt, or too competitive—I’m more likely to stand back and let others be in the spotlight. I’m quite content to be in the background doing things.
  4. I don’t think that I’ve been ignoring other people’s finer sensibilities.
  5. No, I probably haven’t been having enough fun lately. This is something else that I’m going to be trying to correct over the next few months. I know that it shouldn’t be trying to find a “balance” between work and home—but trying to enjoy and find something “fun” in what I do between the hours of eight and five (or nine and six—or whatever the work hours will be). Plus, once I’m better at time management—spend some time in the evenings working on crafts, photography, and/or writing.

So I can safely say—that I’m quite boring, dull, and more than willing to be a wallflower. Traits, that won’t be helpful in terms of networking, and job searching—so there are things that I will need to work on over the next few months. But before one can start making their full moon goals, one should also look to see which house the full moon is moving through—and what they may need to take into account there.

So Aries is moving through my sixth house—or my daily work and health zone. So this is one nice thing about the moon—it moves through the houses several times each year—but there are two times (new & full) that we can sit and reflect on how we’ve done with each house. This is the house, where we can sit and reflect on who we are (both business/work wise and health/fitness wise) and decide to work on what we don’t like.

I find it amusing that the sixth house has popped up approximately a month before I’ll be leaving my job, and a little over a week before I do a free health assessment. I know that there are numerous things that I need to focus on in both areas of life (work/business and health/fitness)—that I’m going to go slow, and the goals may carry over into goals for both November and my reboot break/transition plan goals.

Therefore my goals for the Aries full moon will include:

            Working on my reboot break/transition plan. This may include working through some of the personal development courses or starting to read some of the personal development books (particularly the ones that have numerous journal prompts).

            Trying to back into meditating nightly—this has been an on and off endeavor the past couple of weeks. I know that when I manage to do it for at least a couple of minutes—I do sleep a little better at night.

            Not touching my phone after I turn off the lights and start reading (I have the light dimmed on the e-reader, but haven’t figured out how to dim the light on the phone). Try to be meditating by no later than nine, and reading no later than twenty after nine.

            Continue trying to plan out the next couple of months, and look into different programs that allow you to block certain apps/web pages to help increase my productivity and work on my time management skills.

And always remember: Progress over Perfection.

Aries Full Moon Goals

Well next week is October already. Somehow the month of September has sped past, and we’re now entering the last quarter of 2018. I had thought that I would possibly have gotten more accomplished this year, and that I would have an industry position—well that hasn’t happened yet. So we’re entering the full moon cycle, and now the moon has moved into Aries—which is always a lovely fire sign.

So let’s look at the top 5 questions from “Moonology: working with the magic of lunar cycles” by Yasmin Boland.

Have I been hotheaded, selfish, or argumentative this month?

Have I been going too fast or been impulsive this month?

Have I been brash, blunt, or too competitive?

Have I ignored other people’s finer sensibilities?

Have I had enough fun?

So if I number the above questions again 1-5, I think my current answers would be as follows:

  • I actually think that I need to be a little more selfish or argumentative in the coming weeks (mainly for the sake of my mental health). I usually don’t argue with people at work (I don’t like conflict), and I try to compromise as much as possible probably in all aspects of life. I need to start putting myself first in some cases and decide that if I’m going to possibly take time off—it may be time without pay (as I’ve been told that unless I’m having an mental issue I can’t take sick leave for it).
  • No I haven’t been impulsive about things or going too fast. Probably there are a lot of people that are saying that I’m actually being way to cautious and going slower than others in terms of trying to work on my transition into industry from academia.
  • Again, I don’t think I’ve been brash or blunt this month. The same can be said about being competitive—I haven’t been.
  • What finer sensibilities? Right now I have no social life and I don’t think that I’m ignoring people’s sensibilities.
  • No I haven’t had enough fun lately. I’ve been too stressed about the animals that have declining health, trying to find another job, and the world in general.

So the moon is also passing through my 6th house or the daily work and health zone. So, this will be the second time that this house has come around this year (remember the moon passes through each house during all phases—but I’m currently only looking at the new and full moons (and not the quarters). So this is the time that we focus on releasing any issues about habits that we want to break. This is also the time that we may face a tug of war between dealing with everyday things and wanting to find time to ourselves.

This is also the time to look at what you do every Monday to Friday from nine to five—to sum up: your job. It isn’t suggested that you up and quit (unless you can afford too), but to start thinking of what you do enjoy doing and seeing if there is a way to turn that into your nine to five job, or figure out how to transition into a different job. I have decided that it is time to transition out of academia and in industry for several reasons (but that is another blog post)……

So my goals for this full moon period are:

  • Start a workout routine (either a second round of LIIFT4 or InsanityMax30).
  • Work on my transition plan (have the list of job titles ranked, and start looking into the top six a little more in detail [have at least one blog post on the top six as to why I wouldn’t mind having that position]).
  • Get back into meditating nightly.
  • Post an update (or question) in different groups that I belong to on Facebook. I’ve realized that I’m slowly losing motivation (or drive) on the transition plan (I want to transition, don’t get me wrong), and am curious to know if others had as well and what they did to gain the motivation and/or drive back.
