October New Moon Goals (several days late)…….it seems to be a trend

So the moon is going to be transitioning through it’s new phase over the next two or three days (I’m also going to be two or three days late in posting this as well), and moving through the Scorpio constellation. We’re down to the last few days of October, and then there are only sixty-one days left in 2019. I’m down to four weeks with my current position, and have realized that while I need to take the break to figure out what I want to do with my life—the inner, control-freak voices are starting to freak out (but that’s a topic for another post).

So as the moon moves through Scorpio, there are several things that one can do during this time (according to “Moonology: working with the magic of lunar cycles” by Yasmin Boland), and they are:

            Get sexy.

            Invest wisely.

            Make inner peace.

            B-r-e-a-t-h-e

            Drop grudges

This moon is also moving through my first house or my image zone (how one presents themselves to the world). While Aries is the start of the zodiac calendar—when the moon (either full or new) passes through your first house, it can also seem as the start of a “new year” (we can have a “new start” twice a year if necessary). It is also fitting to be at the image zone, after having done the free health screening last week.

So what are some of the things that one can do during this time?

Surprise friends with the ‘new you’

Throw out all your old make-up and start again

Get married or meet someone new

            Good time to move

Splurge on something in a vibrant color

            Have a facial

            Get your sight checked

For me, this particular new moon period is guiding me to focus on myself, and remind myself that I’m worth whatever work I put into my future—in other words no one else is going to do the work for me. A new future is going to be made—and I’m the only one that can make it what I want, if I do nothing—others decide my future.

Looking at the above two lists there are few things that are crossed off (getting sexy, throwing out make-up, getting married or meeting someone new, and currently moving). These are only crossed off because 1) I currently don’t wear makeup; 2) I’m not in a relationship or looking to be in a relationship; and 3) in order to move I have to have an idea of where to move to—and that is up in the air.

But if I were to make a short list of goals for the Scorpio New Moon they’d include:

Meditating nightly—this is something that I’ve been working on for the past couple of months, and hopefully by making use of some nature CDs—I can get past the one or two minute mark. My goal is to get up to ten to fifteen minutes of nightly mediation, and then start working on meditating for about five minutes during the day—mainly when I feel like I’m going to have an anxiety attack. This is also an way to make inner peace with myself as well.

I really should make an eye appointment over the next couple of weeks—that way I can get my eyes checked before I lose my really good eye insurance.

Work on my reboot break plan and my transition plan—both plans are essential for the coming months—the reboot break is going to focus on re-centering myself (putting myself first for once, especially in the case of mental and physical health), and actually figuring out what I want to do with my life. The transition plan will then help me transition that dream into reality.

Only a few goals this month, but a few are better than none, and I also to remember—Progress over Perfection.

The small, but loud Carolina wren: photography challenge day 69 (slightly late)

So this was suppose to be the picture that was posted last night, but there were issues with the WiFi and internet connection–so it’s a day late. I’m still calling it day 69, as I did try to post last night.

The Carolina wren is a small wren species that is common in most of the eastern parts of the United States. These wrens like to make their nests in hanging plants, empty flowerpots that have been forgotten and left in a corner, or they may make use of nesting boxes. We’ve had them make nests in hanging plants, and various other things hanging on the house (including gardening equipment). Lately they’ve been around the brush piles that we have on the other side of the fence.

Both sexes look similar—having an reddish-brown back, with a orange chest. They also have a long eyebrow stripe, and white chin and throat.

If you’ve heard a Carolina wren sing—you know that they have a very good set of lungs for being such a small bird. Though—it’s only the male (usually) that sings that loud song.

Carolina wrens mate for life, once the pair bond is formed they will stay in their territory year round, and forage together as well. These bird feed primarily on insects (such as caterpillars, beetles, grasshoppers, and true bugs [to name a few]) and spiders. They can also be found on suet feeders grabbing nuts (especially in the winter months), and eating berries as well.

They usually have two broods per year (usually five to six eggs), with the female incubating the eggs. The male may bring the female food during this time (incubation usually ranges about two weeks). The young (which are then fed by both parents) usually leave the nest about two weeks after hatching.

Thursday Double: Days 10 & 11 of photography challenge (a day late)

Someone is unhappy with the thunderstorm.

So I didn’t post a picture last night (there were technical issues), so I’m going to do another double picture posting today.

The first one is of Waffles on my chest last night due to the thunderstorms that were passing through. I’ve noticed that as the animals get older, their tolerance of storms (especially loud ones) seems to decrease. I think my cat found a hiding spot, my mother’s cat curled up by the dog, and I tried to calm Waffles down. She spent a good twenty to thirty minutes on my chest under a cover until the worst of the storm passed over.

The storm managed to drop a good amount of rain for the month of February, but since it is February–the temperatures were all below freezing so all that wonderful rain, turned to ice.

Icy leaves and berries

So when I got up this morning, I found out that I didn’t have to go into work today due to the ice accumulation over night. Everything in the yard was covered in a nice ice coat for the day. The sun did come out to help melt the ice, but the temperatures never got above freezing–so all that melting ice is just going to refreeze tonight. It will be interesting to see what we wake up to in the morning.

I put out more bird seed for the birds and squirrels, and will have to see what the status of those feeders are tomorrow. As much as I love a day off of work–I’d prefer the snow days to the ice days–snow is so much easier to walk on (until its all melted into ice). But that is the winter weather this year–first full day off due to bad weather (we had two partial days off last month). What will the next winter storm bring?
