Well we might still have another six weeks of winter (or six weeks until spring)—I forgot to check yesterday, did the groundhog see its shadow?

Anyway, today while I was filling up bird feeders, I noticed flowers were starting to pop up through out the yard.

The flowers are starting to sprout

Here are some that are coming up on the incline leading down to the creek bed. There are probably more in the front under the maple tree, but they’re being hidden by the monkey grass that we planted around the tree–which I still need to thin out sometime this spring (I’d say before the flowers bloomed, but that isn’t going to happen). It will just be a weekend spent, out in the front yard removing brick, thinning out the decorative grass, putting down some top soil and relaying the bricks in a circle around the tree.
